Blending elements of THE WIZARD OF OZ and CINDERELLA with a catalog of film noir subplots, director David Lynch leads us on an intoxicating, bizarrely perverse Southwestern odyssey with romantic ex-con and Elvis fan Sailor (Nicolas Cage) and his teen girlfriend Lula (Laura Dern) as they flee psycho matriarch Diane Ladd (Dern’s real-life mom). With an unforgettable Willem Dafoe as demonic slimeball Bobby Peru. Also starring Harry Dean Stanton and Isabella Rossellini. Based on the novel by Barry Gifford.

“Starting with the outrageous and building from there, he ignites a slight love-on-the-run novel, creating a bonfire of a movie that confirms his reputation as the most exciting and innovative filmmaker of his generation.”
— Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

“There is enough of a core of sincerity to turn even the most preposterous moments… into something moving and true: You buy the feelings, even as the situations degenerate into the ludicrous and absurd.”
— Dave Kehr, Chicago Tribune
