Scooby-Doo (35MM)

Zoinks! Two years after a clash of egos forces Mystery Inc. to go their separate ways, Scooby-Doo and his crime-solving cohorts Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), and Velma (Linda Cardellini) are individually summoned to Spooky Island, an ultra-hip spring-break resort plagued by mysterious paranormal happenings. Reunited with his best pal Shaggy, the cowardly, constantly hungry Great Dane makes his big-screen debut as the gang attempts to uncover the supernatural secrets threatening the island—and possibly the world. Adapted from Hanna-Barbera’s classic Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, this live-action/animation adventure was written by James Gunn and features Rowan Atkinson as eccentric Spooky Island owner Emile Mondavarious.  Scooby Snacks, monsters, meddling kids—what more could you want?

Josie and the Pussycats

Here kitty, kitty, kitty…
Josie (Rachael Leigh Cook), Melody (Tara Reid), and Val (Rosario Dawson) are three small-town musicians with big dreams of taking their band from the garage to the top of the charts without sacrificing their own look, sound, or style. Their big break arrives when hotshot manager Wyatt Frame (Alan Cumming) signs the Pussycats to MegaRecords, where ruthless CEO Fiona (Parker Posey) transforms them into an overnight sensation. Suddenly they have a number-one single, sold-out concerts, and screaming fans—but the girls soon discover they’re pawns in a sinister scheme to control America’s youth through subliminal messages hidden in pop music. Based on the Archie Comics characters and their Hanna-Barbera animated series, Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont’s 2001 live-action musical comedy is a candy-colored satire of pop music, corporate branding, celebrity, and consumer culture. Initially a box-office disappointment, Josie and the Pussycats has since found an enthusiastic cult following. Grab your cat ears and turn it up—these Pussycats have claws.
