“Richard “Dick” Godwin spent his life creating scenery and dazzling directors and designers from Hamburg to Hollywood to Broadway — but his heart was at The Muny, in his hometown of St. Louis. Godwin started working at The Muny at age 16, bringing his artistry to five decades of productions and training a generation of painters, mentoring a generation of scenic painters whose work continues to shape our productions. In the documentary film “Unseen,” Godwin’s legacy as a scenic artist is honored by colleagues from The Muny and all across the United States, and his unseen work as a fine artist gets a long-overdue spotlight.”
